Amount deducted stating some anw charges?

Deposited rs 45000 in my bank account on 17th august'16 and bank credited around 44, 741 only.
I received a message stating that some and charges 250+ service tax have been deducted.
While opening the new account nobody updated with this policy of bank or even if any changes were made in policy they could have updated us with a mail or message I am always maintaining minimum balance. I am using account from past 15 years and maintain the transactions according the policies.
This is not at all acceptable. I want my money back.

At the outset, let me clarify that this site is designed by a group of senior Banking Professionals to assist Bank Customers at large to provide guidance for resolution of any complain/query/grievance in respect of financial services. This site does not belong to any Bank or a regulator, which may please be noted.

Your complaint is understandable. However, recovery of charges seems to be legitimate. The cash official ought to have informed you about the charges before accepting the cash. If this was not done it amounts to deficiency of service. The bank may defend stating that charges applicable for various services were informed to customers while opening account and also displayed on notice board inside the premises. As such your complaint may not find favour. It is to be noted that all banks levy cash deposit charges.

If you can establish that you were not informed about levy of service charges for cash deposit, you can write to Nodal Officer of the bank narrating the facts and substantiating your claim for refund. He will look into the same and offer appropriate relief. Contact details of Nodal Officer can be found on the bank's website.
