Dear  Raman,

The calls purportedly to be from your bank, as you have rightly guessed, indeed  are fraudulent. You have done the right thing by not sharing any personal information. The threat of blocking/closing your account by the caller are empty as the calls are not from your bank. Your bank cannot block your account without specific reason and without prior notice to you in writing.

This menace called ''Vishing'' is faced by customers of most banks. The banks can do little in the matter and they cannot be faulted for this.  The right course available to you is lodging a police complaint against unknown person  who is the subscriber to the specific number, landline or mobile  from which you have received the calls.

In case you have observed that the caller has information specific to your account and reason to believe your details have been compromised by your bank, you can approach your bank seeking explanation for the same.
