Dear Arijit

Cheques can not be returned by a Bank without a reason. Returned cheques without a reason, would not be accepted by the presenting Bank.  Please speak to your United Bank of India branch to understand the factual reason for return of the cheques.  Since you stated that it was an OD account, your limit might have been exhausted or become overdue.  Please check.

As regards dishonour of the cheques, apparently in order, when adequate balance was there in the account, you will have to take up the issue with the Banking Ombudsman for resolution whose coordinates would be available on the Bank's/RBI website.

As a last resort, you may lodge a case in the Consumer Redressal Forum claiming all losses.

Thanks and regards

Deepak
