Dear Sir, I had a salary account with bank till May of 2015. I had to move abroad later on work. now I am residing in UAE I have clearly asked the bank through email to either convert the account to NRI account if not possible close the account. the bank charges for not maintaining minimum balance in account. for reasons of bank policies on collecting address proof of my residence at UAE the bank couldn't convert the account to NRI account. so then I again emailed them to close the account 3 months back. where I did not receive any response. later my account balance keep going negative. when asked they are saying they are charges for not maintaining minimum balance. I did not want to continue the account I have asked to close the account. bank is not ready to waive off the charges. i do not want to pay the bank for any charges as i had requested them to close the account earlier in August. according to that i am not liable to pay any charges after august 2015.

Dear Manoj

I agree with your contention.  If the home branch is not responding satisfactorily to you, please take it up with their senior management and the process is as follows.

1.    Go to your Bank’s website and search for grievance redressal (or similar name) button and submit your complaint online.

2.    If you do not receive any reply / satisfactory reply within 10 days, lodge your complaint with the Nodal officer of the Bank (either through email or letter)

3.    If you do not receive any reply / satisfactory reply within 10 days from the Nodal officer, lodge your complaint with the Principal Nodal officer of the Bank (either through email or letter)

4.     If you are still not satisfied with the reply / do not receive reply from the Principal Nodal officer within 10 days, lodge your complaint with the Banking Ombudsman (either through letter or email)
