Dear Sir, Refer complaint number CGO 7740 I am Pradip Thakur from Nashik Pune, I am working as Assitant Account in Govt Sector. This complaint is about passing fake cheque by your Bank Nashik Branch. The Cheque issued to me by a school was cleared by your bank to some other payee, payee name on that cheque was changed and cheque was deposited in your Nashik bank for clearance, which was later cleared by your bank Now upon investigated I found the Cheque was cleared from School bank account but money was not deposited into my account. When I inquired with School they gave me the details from your bank the cheque was cleared and money was paid to Mr Yogesh Bachave ( your bank account holder) to his bank account. Now this account is not traceable, the person is not traceable, your bank cannot reach out to this person. In this process I lost my Rs10, 000 because of careless banking by your bank executive. I need my money back from your bank, request you to look into this matter and repay my Rs 10, 000 as early as possible. Hoping to resolve this issue on priority. Thank you

Dear Pradip,

At the outset, let me clarify that this site is designed by a group of senior Banking Professionals to assist Bank Customers at large to provide guidance for resolution of any complain/query/grievance in respect of financial services. This site does not belong to any Bank or a regulator, which may please be noted.

If the cheque drawn by you and honoured by your bank bears material alteration with reference to name of the "Payee" or other details like date, amount etc, the same amounts to fraud. Your bank cannot escape liability and responsibility for having honoured the cheque against your mandate. You can insist on crediting the amount back to your account by your bank. Give it 15 days time and if there is no positive response, you can escalate to Nodal Officer of the bank for resolution. If the Nodal Officer fails to respond, you must take up with the Banking Ombudsman. You will surely get relief.

Contact details of Nodal Officer can be found on the bank's website. For address of the Office of the Banking Ombudsman, Area of Operation (jurisdiction) and the procedure for lodging complaint, you may access the website https://bankingombudsman.rbi.org.in/

Regards
