Dear Sir,  This is pradeep from Bangalore with customer bank, Mission Road Branch, Bangalore. This is pertaining to the MAB charges levied on my salary account which is inoperative since 5 years. For the last six months, I am getting sms to pay the MAB charges and inspite of several requests to close the account stating the actual reason, the bank officials are not responding to the query. The written application sent to close the account has been returned stating that MAB charges need to be paid to close the account. How does it make sense to pay MAB charges for the salary account which is inoperative since 5 years? Request you to help me to close this account and do the needful.
Thank you

Please take up the issue of closure of the account with the Nodal Officer of the bank.  Process is given here under.

1.    Lodge your complaint with the Nodal officer of the Bank (either through email or letter).  Details can be had from Bank's website.

2.    If you do not receive any reply / satisfactory reply within 10 days from the Nodal officer, lodge your complaint with the Principal Nodal officer of the Bank (either through email or letter).

3.     If you are still not satisfied with the reply / do not receive reply from the Principal Nodal officer within 10 days, lodge your complaint with the Banking Ombudsman (either through letter or email).  For address of the Office of the Banking Ombudsman, Area of Operation (jurisdiction) and the procedure for lodging complaint, you may access their website https://bankingombudsman.rbi.org.in/.
