Dear Shivanand,

Your query lacks clarity. It is not clear if you are  talking about  return of cheques deposited by you for collection in your account or cheques issued by you in favour of your clients.

In case of return of cheques deposited for collection you have to take up with the drawer of the cheques (person/s who had issued the cheques to you) to ascertain the cause for return of the cheques and claiming settlement.

If your bank has returned the cheque issued by you in spite of there being sufficient balance in your account to honour the same, it amounts to serious deficiency of service. You can issue a notice to your bank seeking remedial action. You can also claim  compensation for wrongful return of the cheque. If your bank fails to respond to your satisfaction within 30 days, you can approach the Banking Ombudsman for resolution of your grievance. And you will surely get justice.
