Dear Iven

The terms and conditions for issuance of a Credit Card are very stringent and any laxity / delay in payment of your spends would attract late fee, interest etc.  Your spent / utilized a credit of Rs.5000/- and did not pay, citing the reason that you did not have any information about due date, which I am sure, is generally not acceptable.  Once the spend is recorded, bank would be sending the bill to your address, at least 15 days in advance of the due date, besides sending SMS and email.  You should not be claiming that you are not aware of the due date.  As I stated earlier, since you have not made any payment, the bank would have rightly levied late fee and interest.  Your assertion that you would only pay Rs.5000/- is not tenable, since you agreed for the terms & conditions of the bank, while being issued with the credit card.

Please meet the credit card issuing officials and seek waiver of charges, which they might consider.
