Credit card - closure issue?

I have been trying to get closure on my expired credit card but the ban keeps charging interest and sending me statements. I have called customer care a number of times for solution but they refused to close my card citing pending charges. I have cleared all payment as advised by customer care and they told me to call a week later to close the card. When i called again they told me the billing cycle had started and interest has been charged. I want a transcript of all the calls i have made and the responses i have been given. Also i am no longer accepting any statement from bank so i am not aware how much they have charged me after request of closure. I will not take any responsibility of paying any more money to bank credit card and i will not negotiate on this. I cannot waste time calling customer care. They don't give solutions. I have had an excellent experience with stanchart and i wish these Bank take some lessons from them. Kindly take action immediately.

At the outset, let me clarify that this site is designed by a group of senior Banking Professionals to assist Bank Customers at large to provide guidance for resolution of any complain/query/grievance in respect of financial services. This site does not belong to any Bank or a regulator, which may please be noted.

As regards your grievance, I suggest you to bring the same to notice of Nodal Officer of your bank seeking redressal. Contact details of your bank's nodal officer can be found on the bank's website. 

Give the Nodal Officer a reasonable amount of time say 15 days to revert to you. In case  the bank/Nodal Officer fails to respond or the response is not to your satisfaction, you may take up the matter with the Banking Ombudsman. This is the best option to bring the matter to close in an effective manner.
