InterCity Charge for deposit of money?

Question

I deposited 30 thousand rupees in myA/c. in Branch but they have charged 68 Rupees for depositing the money. The thing is that my home branch and the other branch where i deposited money is in same city/district/state. And the distance between both branch is approx 1km only. I don't know why they charged 68 rupees for depositing of money as a intercity charge of same city/same district.

Distance between the two branches of the same bank are not a criterion for charges.  The charges are based on the nature and scheme of the account you have been maintaining with the Bank. If the particular account is not provided with any exemption for receipt of cash into the account, other than at home branch, you would be levied with relative charges as per the the structure.  Please check on the scheme your account with SBI and if still you find that the charges have been wrongly levied, take it up with the home branch for reversal.
