Dear Ajith,

At the outset, let me clarify that this site is designed by a group of senior Banking Professionals to assist Bank Customers at large to provide guidance for resolution of any complain/query/grievance in respect of financial services. This site does not belong to any Bank or a regulator, which may please be noted.

Your bank would have provided you a copy of schedule of charges for various services when you opened your account. You have to be guided by the same. It is possible that your bank has revised the service charges. Unlike other changes, banks may not be individually intimating every customer about the changes. Instead, they display on notice board and some banks communicate such changes printing the same on monthly/quarterly statement of account which they send to customers. Also, these charges are uploaded in the bank's website.

Thus, before coming to conclusion that your bank has overcharged you, please ascertain if the bank has revised service charges and recovery of Rs.50/- instead of Rs.25/- was in accordance with the change. If you find that your bank has indeed charged double the amount in an arbitrary manner then you have a point. In this case, you can write to your branch demanding refund of the excess amount. In case your genuine request is turned down, you can take up with Nodal Officer of your bank whose contact details can be found on the bank's website. I am sure your grievance will get addressed.

Regards
