ECS DR Return charges 250912?

I think this is the same problem for all HDFC accounts, this is very serious problems with Private banks, I think.
From my account they have detected Rs 3700 with 6 different transactions with remarks as "ECS DR Return charges 250912".

At the outset, let me clarify that this site is designed by a group of Senior Banking Professionals to assist Bank Customers at large to provide guidance for resolution of any query / complaint / grievance in respect of financial services.  This site does not belong to any Bank or a Regulator, which may please be noted.

When you issue a cheque drawn on your account and the cheque is returned unpaid for want of adequate balance in your account, cheque return charges are levied by the Bank. Similarly, when ECS debit instruction does not get honoured due to insufficient balance in your account, the Bank levy ECS DR return charges. In case you have genuine reason to explain, you may approach senior officials of the branch with reversal request. Your request might be considered on merits of the reasoning.
